This is a raw and poignant work covering the life and struggles of Kira, a young girl suffering from bulimia. Over a period of 45 minutes Kira shares the most s ignificant moments in her life, sometimes addressing the audience directly, and sometimes as part of a confused monologue riddled with anxiety. While the performance is stellar, the script felt scattered at times, as if attempting to focus on too many concepts.

The whole play is in one scene and the stage contains only her and about 20 chairs, which Kira moves between to illustrate different moments in her life. With occasional shimmers of joy, and a very dark sense of humour, this show explores some of the reasons why so many young girls feel the need to achieve perfection, even if it’s at the cost of their own lives.

The show is dark, dense, and very insightful, but requires a little more refinement to bring a balance to the performance.
