Review: Lady Boys of Bangkok at Theatre Big Tops TweetShare3SharePin3 SharesReview: Lady Boys of Bangkok at Theatre Big Tops2019-08-193★★★ Now in its 21st (and possibly final) year, this show is slick, feel-good entertainment without any politics to distract from the show tunes. Taking place in its own circus tent with a hard-working bar and plenty of table seating for the audience, gorgeously-costumed performers lipsync and twirl to old favourites like ABBA and The Proclaimers and new hits from The Greatest Showman. The energy is high and even at a midweek, early evening performance you can expect most of the crowd to be on their feet and dancing by the end of the show. The Master of Ceremonies runs a slick operation, keeping the audience engaged and there are enough raunchier comedy segments to break up the songs. Jakkrit Lannok and Phachira Sea-Tea both have stand-out solo performances but it’s the choreography and stunning costumes that bring everything together. Speedy costume changes and a kaleidoscope of stage sets add to the atmosphere. A word to the wise though, those on a front-row table risk being dragged on stage and chained to a chair for the girls to do with as they will…. Ladyboys of Bangkok is at Theatre Big Tops – Theatre Big Tops at 16:00, 18:30, 20:45 until the 26th TweetShare3SharePin3 Shares Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
