In Unquiet Mind, Chris Forbes focuses the hour around the trouble with overthinking. While he delivers most of his gags with ease, it took a little while for him to get into the swing of things.
Forbes begins the show with a parody of Trainspotting called Toyspotting, played on a projected screen, which sees him dressed up as the likes of Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The skit is fun, if a little random.
However, it’s the second half where Forbes, as a comedian starts to shine. Material about internet trolling kicks the second ‘act’ off, before Forbes picks up the instruments. His songs range from numbers about childhood angst played on the accordion to the tunes he wrote as a broody teenager about his Pizza Hut crush, but the real genius comes in the form of the one full song he’s written – about Brad Pitt.
Although not quite a set filled with belly laughs, Chris Forbes’ Unquiet Mind still makes for an enjoyable hour.
