altThe content of Zeus’ Pamphlet is curious. The sketches are enacted by three women and two men, with the women as the butt of the joke in every sketch. It was quite smutty and silly, and it was a shame the large seating capacity of the venue was mostly unoccupied because, although I wasn’t laughing, the rest of the audience was.

The worst part of reviewing is giving my opinion. I just get too cagey about jokes that are unimaginatively offensive to (particularly) women or people that speak Art, because I’m both of those. Lines like “she’s got a face I’d like to slap my c*** across,” directed at a singled-out audience member, made my funny bone seize up. Sorry. I also cringed for men, the middle- and working-class, and muslims.

That being said, the show is easy comedy, the punch lines are obvious and it’s all pretty familiar character stereotypes and scenarios. The actors are perfectly malleable and exceptionally expressive. If you’re looking for straightforward gags, this is a show to see.
