After deciding to give up his life as a banker to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian in 2014, Eshaan Akbar takes to the Fringe stage with his debut show, Not for Prophet.

Already crowned Piccadilly’s Comedian of the Year 2016, Akbar is a privately educated ex-Muslim, and the son of sub-continental parents, who has always lived under the umbrella of opposites, which has had its share of confusion in his life. However, he uses this to his advantage to create intelligent, observational material. His endless charisma and humbleness charms the audience into energetic participation from Bollywood dancing to hymn singing and even gets us participating in some hilarious games. With fantastic stage presence and confidence, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were watching a seasoned veteran perform rather than a newcomer.

There is no doubt that Akbar will soon go places: his comedy is reflective, relevant, political, observational, relatable and, above all, it is laugh out loud hilarious.  Even though some of his jokes cross to the darker side, his impeccable timing means even the darkest jokes are met with glee.

If you are looking for an hour of genius stand up comedy, then give Eshaan Akbar a very well deserved go. A guaranteed good time awaits.
