altThis king of the one-liner has so many jokes that he has to put the ones he can’t fit into the show on a handout. Brummie comedian Gary Delaney has a barrage of quick quips and gags that come faster than (insert your own rude punch line here).

The show begins in self-deprecating style and he is unapologetic about the fact that he has no theme, no narrative and the show will not contain anything about his personal life. What we do learn is that he is a man who can unleash the killer punchlines with frighteningly frenetic finesse. Topics covered include: polar bears, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Oedipus, Isaac Hayes, cleaners, dead dogs, Christmas trees and orthopedic shoes. This lack of cohesion might give you a headache but the wealth of material has to be applauded.

Many of the jokes have been tested out on Twitter and the popularity of this medium has successfully raised his profile on the comedy circuit. Some of his set pushes the boundaries of offense, but with jokes as good as these you can forgive him. His inventive ways of keeping the crowd engaged in this wildly tangential show keep the audience laughing and groaning throughout.

An entertaining fringe debut.
