Blow Off is a loud, explosive but fantastically evocative play. It focuses on female identity and humanity as it follows a woman as she makes a fatal and life-changing decision. She has no name, face or defining features – she is anonymous to the audience.
The show has a very unique style; it uses a live band to narrate much of the story, emphasising the power, passion and anger that drives the plot. While this stylistic choice pays off, creating a forceful, emotional atmosphere, it may not be to everyone’s taste.
Julia Taudevin is stunning in her role both in the band and as a storyteller. She manages to bring the character to life, despite the fact that we learn only abstract details about her throughout the show. A fierce and powerful show, Blow Off really will blow your mind.
