We manifest many layers of created ‘self’s’ in our lifetime. What seems to be a tale of lovers reconnecting is actually revealed to be a deeper narrative of the inner workings and connections we share. Captured explores the ways we recall the past differently, how a sweet, loving memory for some could be distressing to others, and looks at the way one photograph can conjure so many competing ideas.
The play follows the story of Sophie and her ex-lover Issac, a photographer, as he re-enters her life. Captured is acted well and its set pieces and projected images are clean and used to great effect. However, the writing could be refined further as themes are often pushed onto the audience, distracting from what could have been a beautifully subtle piece of theatre.
