Rating:

Jess Robinson dominates the room with her brash and ballsy impressions; imitating Liza Minnelli, Jessie James and Katherine Jenkins (to name a few) and maintaining their voices – and the crowd’s attention – the entire time.

The double team of Jess and Kirsty Newton (who predominantly remains in the background on piano) work well together and are evidently comfortable with one another’s stage presence. Kirsty does a beautiful rendition of Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ that united the crowd.

Robinson’s brash delivery does, however, sometimes overshadow the unmistakable talent of her accomplished singing voice. A scattergun approach to the layout of the show doesn’t help either, with odd, lacklustre attempts at parodying reality TV a low point.

If loud, musical and vivacious is your thing, this is the show for you. It certainly was for about half the audience who were moved to a standing ovation at the show’s close.
