Comedy sketch group Mixed Doubles bring us their hilariously well-crafted show Fundraiser, centred around the four performers raising money for Little Comberton’s new social pavilion. What unfolds is an incredible example of quick wit, silliness and on point humour.
The group are ridiculously clever in their execution of the show, setting sketch within sketch that allows each scenario to follow smoothly into the next, inspiring an almost continuous stream of laughter from the audience. Sometimes, this extremely fast pace can leave very little time for the punchline to settle, resulting in some of the best jokes being missed by the crowd. However, this is not always the case, with Mixed Doubles using silence as some of their best material at other points, cleverly gaining their best reactions through the simplicity of an expression.
Fundraiser provides endless hilarity and keeps you guessing – the end of each sketch is never what you’d expect. For quality sketch and improv comedy, this should be your top pick.
