Whose Line Is It Anyway? is a comedy classic and a safe bet that is guaranteed to make you laugh. Clive Anderson is back at home hosting this live stage performance of the timeless improvisation comedy show, while the legendary talents of Greg Proops, Josie Lawrence, Colin Mochrie, Mike McShane, Steve Frost, Richard Vranch and Phill Jupitus hit the stage on rotation across August. The Assembly Rooms Music Hall provides the venue and whilst the site is large this renowned show easily fills the space while still managing to feel intimate, with both the audience and performers clearly enjoying themselves.
Like all improv shows, audience participation is required and this show knows how to balance just enough audience interaction to keep the show moving yet not distract from the comedic talent present. The improv style of the show does mean that there is a risk that a comedic high note will not always be hit but more laughs than not should be expected from these seasoned pros.
Having been on the scene since 1988, Whose Line Is It Anyway? might not be anything new, but the improv style means that it is a forever changing beast, resulting in something new with each visit and a show that is nonetheless a fantastic easy-going nostalgic comedy.
